CYBERJAYA, 12 FEBRUARY 2019 – Animation not only features entertaining characters and movements but has become one of the most important medium of today’s world to attract audiences and facilitate message delivery. Realizing that, the Communications and Multimedia Consumer Forum of Malaysia (CFM) is providing an opportunity to challenge budding and established local animation enthusiasts who want to showcase their talent by participating in CFM ANIMATCH 2019 contest which offers a cash prize of RM8,500 for the champion.

Second and third prize winners will receive a cash prize of RM5,000 and RM3,000 respectively. The 7 finalists will each receive a cash prize of RM500.

The competition is open to all Malaysian citizens aged 18 years and above including professionals and students from universities and colleges. Entries may be submitted by individuals or as a group (maximum 3 persons per group). Participants can submit their entries online on the CFM portal. Participants will be given topics that are related to issues frequently faced by consumers with their service providers that include cellular services, broadband, and illegal digital content.

Participants will go through three (3) stages before qualifying for the final stage. CFM will select 10 most interesting entries who will take part in the finals. The 10 finalists will be participating in an animation boot camp in Cyberjaya for two (2) days scheduled on 30 and 31 March 2019. The finalists will be given the chance to interact and engage with animation experts; Hassan Abd Muthalib, Father of Malaysian Animation, Mike Ismail – 2D Animation Director and Ayie Ibrahim, Director of Creatvtoon Studio Animation.

The winner of CFM ANIMATCH 2019 will be announced on 31 March 2019, right after all finalists have presented their final fictional animation video to the panel of judges on the last day of the animation boot camp.

The competition is not only focused on finding creative talents in the animation field but to also leverage on animation as a tool for CFM to deliver its messages on issues faced by consumers related to telecommunications and multimedia so that consumers have a better understanding of the real situation while promoting self-regulation.

All the videos produced will be publicly displayed and will be part of CFM’s public service announcements that will benefit and educate consumers in Malaysia.
